"Fallen Heroes" Memorial Dedication

On Veteran's Day this year, and despite the poor weather, hundreds of locals came out to witness the dedication of the "Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial". It was a memorable event. Both senators Bates and Atkinson were in attendance (no Senator Gordon--sniff!). My Dad, Dennis Richardson gave a wonderful, heartfelt speech about the heroes who give their lives for our country. He is a war veteran himself (Vietnam), so he knows what it's like to put your life on the line for your country. This Memorial is dedicated to those Oregonian men who couragously fought and died (now and in the future) for this country. It was neat to see the community gather together and donate time and resources to make this Memorial possible. Even the morning of the Dedication, someone was there laying sod in the pouring rain!

Your dad's talk was the most moving part of the dedication. The memorial is a beautiful space and it's a credit to him that it was built so quickly and so well.

Does your Dad EVER age? He still looks the same now as my memories of him while growing up (which may not be a compliment...but was meant to be!?) With how well I always remember him speaking, I'm sure it was WONDERFUL. :)
