"Vermont in October"

This painting was commissioned by a new collector, Carolyn Nihon, who discovered my work in a Gallery in Aspen Colorado. When I heard why she was interested in commissioning me to do a painting for her, I was deeply touched! Carolyn's husband had passed away a year ago, and she was still trying to cope with life without the man that had meant so much to her. They had shared a truly rare and beautiful relationship. Carolyn asked that I start the painting on August 10th--the exact date of his passing, and I agreed. She had chosen birch trees in Autumn as the subject matter, because it reminded her of a trip she and her late-husband had taken together to Vermont--when all the leaves of the birches were changing colors. The above picture is the final result, and below is the sweet email she sent me after she saw the pics:

Dear Jen,

I don't think I could be any more satisfied. When I actually see this with my own eyes I'm sure it will be even more fantastic. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting all your heart and soul into this magnificent piece of art. It will always be a treasure and will passed down from one generation to the next. Please include a biography of yourself if possible or can I find it on your website? Jen, The initials really look like Bob carved them. I can't tell how pleased you named this "Vermont in October." What a fantastic way to capture my romance with Bob. Thank you so very much. Look forward to meeting you in the future.

Warm Regards,

Carolyn
